Puff Pastry Garlic Bread

Description

Take the light airy crunch of puff pastry and mash it together with garlic dill cream cheese and your favorite cheese, and you get super savory cheesy bread that’s a buttery rich side that’s wonderful with drinks of all kinds.  You just need 5 minutes of work to get this in the oven!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound puff pastry, thawed (Homemade Puff Pastry or frozen, thawed overnight in fridge)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced, or grated with a Microplane

  • 1/4 cup fresh dill, chopped
  • 4 ounces grated cheese (Monterey jack, havarti, cheddar, Butterkase, etc)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 F (200 C). Line a half sheet pan with a piece of parchment

Roll

  1. Roll out a sheet of puff pastry into a thin layer about the size of your sheet pan on a lightly floured surface.

Mix

  1. Use a fork to smash together the garlic, dill, and cream cheese.

Spread

  1. Spread out the cream cheese over the pastry in a thin layer.

  2. Scatter over the cheese.

Bake

  1. Bake the pastry at 400 F (200 C) until the cheese is patched with brown spots and the pastry is light and crispy–about 16-20 minutes.

Cut

  1. Immediately cut up the pastry into 12 rectangular pieces or smaller squares if you’d prefer.

Notes

Spices and Cheese: Feel free to add in any flavors that you’d like here.  Your favorite steak seasoning, BBQ rub, chile powder, curry, black pepper, or paprika are all great additions, and really any cheese you can grate works here.  Mozzarella, parmesan, pecorino, havarti, gouda, or manchego are all delicious choices for the cheese.
